The problem: race conditions on checkout

During flash sales, two shoppers can add the last available unit of a product within seconds of each other. WooCommerce standard behaviour only checks stock on order placement, causing overselling and painful refunds.

The architecture: atomic stock reservation

Flash Sale Stock Guard reserves stock at the moment of adding to cart using database-level locking (GET_LOCK), ensuring zero concurrency issues during heavy traffic spikes.

Performance & Cleanup

Cart reservations are tied to timed sessions. If a user abandons checkout, an asynchronous WP-Cron / Action Scheduler event immediately returns the held unit to the public inventory pool.
